It's Bottega Veneta for Halloween

Sunday, October 28, 2018

As if she'd choose something basic for Halloween, FLOTUS Melania channeled Cher Horowitz, aka everyone's favorite '90s style icon to pass out candy at the White House.  Mrs. Trump wore the boxy yellow plaid coat from Italian label Bottega Veneta to celebrate Halloween festivities with kids.

Ever the style maven, Melania paired the checkered wool coat, which hit right at the knee, with black point Christian Louboutin heels.  The coat is from Bottega Veneta's pre-fall ’18 collection.

Ralph Lauren

Melania in Ralph Lauren for Kenya Safari

Friday, October 05, 2018

Mrs. Trump embarked on her solo tour of four African countries earlier this week with stops in Ghana, Malawi and now Kenya.  The first two stops went swimmingly well both diplomatically and sartorially.  Today, however, her choice of clothing for a safari turned some heads when she showed up at the Nairobi National Park in a crisp white Ralph Lauren button-down shirt, khaki pants and brown boots with a pith helmet.

Many people thought the pith helmet was in poor taste because it is "considered a symbol of colonial oppression."  The choice of headgear overshadowed the mission of Mrs. Trump's trip, which was to visit an orphanage and highlight conservancy issues at an elephant sanctuary.

Thierry Colson

Friday, October 05, 2018

First Lady Melania Trump touched down in Nairobi, Kenya last night dressed in an old Erdem dress worn earlier this summer.  She went on an hour-long safari this morning.   She visited The Nest orphanage where she was greeted by smiling happy kids eager to meet her with the gift of song.

Mrs. Trump, often stoic in public was radiant and all smiles and she danced and played with the children. She also read to the kids, which is part of her mission of literacy.

“Thank you for what you do and taking care of them,” Mrs. Trump said, while holding a baby girl originally handed to her wrapped in a blanket bearing the logo of Be Best, the child welfare initiative she launched this year and is promoting during this week’s Africa visit.

Mrs. Trump wore a yellow striped caftan by Theirry Colson.  The Iolanda striped cotton dress has a loose silhouette, gathered with a self-tie waist and balloon sleeves.  She paired her sunshine yellow dress with white pointed toe flats, which look like the Louis Vuitton Lady flats.

The FLOTUS recycled her Erdem shirt dress, last worn this past July in Washington, DC. She accessorized the Erdem Parrot shirt dress differently with a wide yellow belt and bright yellow Manolo Blahnik pumps.

Joseph

Melania Wears Joseph Dress in Malawi

Thursday, October 04, 2018

Mrs. Trump continues her tour of Africa with a stop in Malawi, becoming the very first U.S. First Lady to visit the country.  It's the second stop on her four-country tour.  She was greeted by well-wishers and presented flowers by the cutest little girl, who seemed a bit shy to meet her.

The main reason for Mrs. Trump's visit is because of the low rate of education completed in the poverty-stricken country.  She was greeted by Malawian First Lady Gertrude Maseko Mutharika, who then accompanied her to Chipala Primary School to sit in on classes and interact with the school children.  Mrs. Trump also helped in gifting the kids with soccer balls customized with her “Be Best”initiative logo on them.  With literacy also a focus of her trip, she also increased the giving of 1.4 million books as part of U.S. Aid.

Melania chose the beige three-quarter-length sleeve button-down Warren dress by Joseph, a British brand beloved by Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge. She cinched the utility style dress with a thin leather belt.  She wore brown suede Manolo Blahnik BB pumps for her meet-and-greet then changed into her $50 Zara flats to play with the children during her school visit.

Mrs. Trump is headed to Kenya tomorrow.

First Lady Melania Trump wrapped her tour of Ghana tonight and boarded the military plan bound for Malawi.  The sartorially savvy FLOTUS dressed down, truly channeling her model-off-duty look dressed in skinny hunter green pants and a light blue button-down shirt.

She ditched her vertiginous Manolo Blahnik pumps for an All-American look with her choice of hunter green Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low tops.  At just $80, this is one of the more affordable looks Mrs. Trump has worn that can be easily attained by fans and followers of her style.

Veronica Beard

It's Day 2 of First Lady Melania Trump's Africa tour and this time, she traveled to the town of Cape Coast, the site of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, for a visit. The somber day commenced with a traditional ceremony from the region's chiefs to grant her permission to visit the historic site.

Mrs. Trump was then given a private tour by Museum Educator, Kwesi Essel-Blankson, who gave her a history lesson about slavery and its impact on the world. She was then guided to the Door of No Return at a slave castle where slaves were piled into ships and sent to Britain, America, the Caribean, and South America, never to see their families again.  Mrs. Trump told reporters on-site that she found the visit to be “very emotional.’

FLOTUS kept it low-key with her dressing, choosing an ensemble she wore back in 2017, which consisted of a Veronica Beard Camp Ponte Utility jacket and khaki J Brand trousers.  She wore her Manolo Blahnik BB pumps for the morning ceremony but changed into $50 Zara Printed loafers for the tour of the slave castle.

Vince

Monday, October 01, 2018

First Lady Melania is embarking on a solo tour of Africa today and she set off in style.  This will be Mrs. Trump's first big solo trip overseas with scheduled visits to Ghana, Malawi, Kenya and Egypt.  I'm sure we will be seeing some fabulous sartorial choices during her tour.  The main mission of this trip, however, is a "diplomatic and humanitarian visit" focused on her #BeBest campaign for "children and their well-being."

Mrs. Trump boarded her flight to Ghana donning a brown suede trench coat by Vince.  She kept the look monochromatic by pairing the trench with her chocolate brown Herve Pierre leather skirt and leopard print Manolo Blahnik BB pumps.  She accessorized with Saint Laurent sunglasses.

Her spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said: “We leave today and will be visiting Ghana, Malawi, Kenya and Egypt. She is hoping to visit the countries to learn what their challenges are, and also see where the U.S. is having a positive impact or results. To that end, our office has been working closely with USAID [United States Agency for International Development] and each stop will focus on one or more projects they have been working on within each country.”

Melania's visits will promote “education, healthcare, some conservation and tourism,” the statement continued. “As with all that she does through her initiative Be Best, the well-being of children will be her focus,” according to Grisham.
